Do You Have What It Takes?
Hello, and thanks for taking interest in OnTheBump.

My name is Shawn West, I am the Head Catching and Hitting Instructor for all ages. As a native Las Vegan I am proud to be a product of quality coaching in the Las Vegas valley during my years in youth baseball and up through high school. In my experience as a player and coach I've realized that to be a great baseball player you must not only practice often and be taught the correct fundamentals to succeed. Below is a brief review of my years in high school and collegiate baseball.

As a 3 year Varsity starter for Eldorado High School, I went on to play for the elite high school baseball program in Las Vegas at Green Valley High School in the middle of its 6-year dynasty under Rodger Fairless. It was at GVHS that I played alongside Ian Jones en route to winning the 5th of 6 consecutive State Championships at Green Valley.

Following high school I attended Central Arizona College as a catcher and helped lead the team to the Junior College World Series. In my sophomore season I transferred back to Las Vegas and played for the Community College of Southern Nevada in its inaugural season in 2000 under coach Tim Chambers. While at CCSN I earned Defensive Player of the Year.

After my season with the Wolfpack I played under scholarship as a 2 year starter for Northwestern State University at Louisiana. While there I earned 3rd Team All Conference Honors both years, winning 2 Conference Championships. Some of my stats while at NSU were .330 combined average, 61 RBIs and 14 strikeouts over 2 seasons.
